LEAGUE OF LEGENDS MID YEAR RANKED RESET
In 2023, League of Legends by Riot Games is undergoing significant changes to its ranking system. Traditionally, there has only been one ranked season annually, running from January to November.

However, this year there will be two ranked seasons, with each season having its own set of rewards, including skins and chromas.
Previously, split points were earned by winning ranked games, but starting in 2023, they will have a more significant impact as there will be a mid-year ranked reset. The goal of the reset is to get people to play more games and stop them from smurfing, which happens in the second half of the season.
The reset will also be softer for players who haven’t played many games since the beginning of the year.
Riot Games has noticed that most players, especially those who play often, reach their desired rank about halfway through the year. The reset is a response to these observations.

The company is also working on other features, such as anonymous Champion Select, pick order swapping, and a loadout recommender, to enhance the ranked experience. The success of the new ranked model will be evaluated before deciding on any future changes.
